A Colorful Project

The Project

For this project, we were assigned the task of creating a color wheel.  We made this project in Adobe Illustrator.  We used several tools in order to create a symmetrical color wheel.  This project was informational, because it helped us to learn about primary, secondary, and tertiary colors.  It also helped us get used to using Adobe Illustrator, which we will be using a lot this year.

The Technique

This project had multiple steps.  We used the shape tools, color tools, and text tools.  We used the shape tools while holding down shift in order to create a perfectly symmetrical shape.  We also held down the option key and dragged shapes to copy and paste all in one step.  We found where the preset color menu is, and that is how we filled our shapes with color.

What We Learned

This project helped to familiarize us with Adobe Illustrator and the color wheel.  I learned what primary, secondary, and tertiary colors are and how they relate to each other on the color wheel.  I learned how to open and size documents in Adobe Illustrator, navigate the application, and use the tools provided.  If I were to do the project again, I would change the way I scaled the shapes.  I may have made them a bit bigger than they needed to be.
