My Type of Project

The Project

For this project, we were tasked with creating a chart displaying the anatomy of a typeface.  I made this project in Adobe Illustrator.  I learned how to use new tools that will aid me in other projects.  This project helped me learn about the importance of fonts and how to identify a serif font.

My anatomy of typography project.
The Technique

To complete this project, I had to look at a reference to make sure I had the correct names for the typeface.  I used the line tool, the color palette, and the text tool.  I was able to hold down the shift key to make sure that my lines were straight.  In order to copy and paste quicker, we held down the option key and dragged the objects that we wanted to copy and paste.

What I Learned

This project helped me to get more comfortable with Adobe Illustrator.  I learned the importance of choosing the correct font in the right scenario, what a baseline is, what a serif is, and how to add arrowheads to a line.  If I were to do the project again, I would change the fonts that I used.  I would also use the whole alphabet so that I could identify all of the anatomy characteristics of typography.
